Well, since I read all the books before some others in my class even finished their first. I'd have to say that I like the books, a lot. As for recommending it, yes, I would like to recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy. I'd also like to recommend it to anyone interested in the Gods, although I always got confused which god does what. If you don't like any of those then maybe you'll read it because The Lightning Thief movie hits the theaters February 10th! Also please note if you do "plan" on reading the series please start from book 1 then read up to book 5.
Book 1-The Lightning Thief
Book 2-The Sea of Monsters
Book 3-The Titans Curse
Book 4-The Battle of the Labyrinth
Book 5-The Last Olympian
Why do I say that? Well, if you don't believe me then read all the books backwards, I assure you that you WILL get confused.

What would I change?
Well these books are so good, I would have to say that if the series keeps going keep up the good work. If I "had" to change something about the books, well I would want the books to be longer. I would like to change the upcoming movies so they look a little more like the descriptions. Only time will tell if the books get longer, or if the characters match the description. YES, shortest post of mine yet. Ha ha!

Description of book(s)
The Sea of Monsters-Well since the beginning to the end this book is mainly about how Grover gets caught by Polyphemus, and Polyphemus takes Grover back to his island. His island looks very beautiful, and looks like a paradise due to the magic of the golden fleece. Yes, it is the same Polyphemus as in The Odyssey. In the beginning, there is a dodge ball game going down, but on the team opposite of Percy are some cannibal giants. They are saved by Tyson, who later you will find out he is Percy's brother and a cyclops. Sooner or later, depending on how fast you read the books, Percy will be receiving some gifts from the messenger God Hermes. Then Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson will ride some hippocampi to the ship Princess Andromeda, Luke's ship. During their time on Luke's ship they figure out that Luke also knows the coordinates to the golden fleece, and that he has a spy in Camp Half Blood.A while after they get off Princess Andromeda, they get saved from a hydra by Clarisse, who is the daughter of the war God, Ares. They travel in Clarisse's ship toward The Sea of Monsters. Unfortunately, there is only one way to get into the sea of monsters, which is straight through Charybdis and her sister Scylla. Well of course, if you try to take the two sisters on your ship it will most likely be destroyed, of course Clarisse's ship, the CSS Birmingham was destroyed. The "living" people on it got in lifeboats, all but Tyson and Percy(who was falling into the water because Scylla tried to bring him up to her, you'll understand when you read the book). In the end though Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Clarisse, and Tyson all meet up on Polyphemus' island. I thought this was one of the best, and funniest parts of the book. When fighting Polyphemus, and Polyphemus says, "Who said that?" Then Annabeth replied when she was invisible, "Nobody." That got Polyphemus really angry, because that was the name Odysseus used before he poked Polyphemus' eye with a large hot stick. After the fighting, and they return to camp, with an unexpected intrusion from Luke, they put the golden fleece on Thalias tree. In a few days the magic barriers were stronger than ever, and Camp Half Blood looked better than ever. Then Grover came pounding on the Poseidon's cabin door, and Chiron gave Percy a ride up to Thalias tree. To everyones suprise there was a person that was lying by the tree, and by Annabeth. When Percy asked her what her name was she replied... "I'm Thalia, daughter of Zeus."
Questions over The Sea of Monsters-
1)Does Polyphemus actually die? or does he only go to the depths of Tartarus for the next thousand years?
2)Why did Odysseus stab Polyphemus' eye in the first place?
3)Is there really a place called The Sea of Monsters?

Setting
Well since Percy and his friends go on quests there are a lot of areas in these books. I would have to say though that Camp Half-Blood, which is in Manhattan, New York is the main place in these books. Camp Half-Blood is basically the only place that is in all the books so that's why I said that it was the main area. In the camp are twelve cabins, but whose cabins they are I won't reveal because that would be a spoiler I think(if you haven't read the first one).
In The Sea of Monsters, the main areas are on ships, and of course sailing on The Sea of Monsters, which is also the Bermuda Triangle. In The Titans Curse the heroes, Percy and friends, go searching for two captured people whom I can't name because of spoilers. I will say however that the two captured are hostages at Mount Tamalpais, California. So I suppose that they spend a while in California in The Titans Curse. I wouldn't say its a rich economy in either book, but its not poor either. I mean on one hand you have half-bloods who don't have much money, then you have the Gods who can create their own money. Oh, and the time period is right now; we just can't see the monsters through the mist. The mist is basically a mist that hides the monsters true form. It is hard to explain the mist, so I won't even try. You'll just have to read the book to find out what the mist is I guess.
Sorry if I spoiled part of the books for anyone, I tried my best not to. Maybe you all should do me a favor and read the series so I won't spoil anything.

The Sea of Monsters/The Titans Curse characters-
The main character in this book is Perseus Jackson, the son of the sea God Poseidon. He is a half-blood, which means he has one mortal parent and one parent is a God. He looks like any other normal kid, just he isn't normal. In The Lightning Thief, Poseidon gave him the ballpoint pen that can transform into the celestial bronze sword Anaklusmos, also known as Riptide. That is the same sword Hercules used against the dragon Ladon. Percy is dyslexic and has ADHD, like all half-bloods. He isn't as rude or cocky as some of the other half-bloods in these books. Percy has managed to get kicked out of every school he goes to, and wherever he goes he manages to get into trouble with monsters.
Then there is Grover, Percy's best friend who is a satyr. A satyr is a woodland creature which has pointed ears, hairy legs, and short horns, like a goat man. He is the satyr who found Percy and helped him get to Camp Half-Blood. Grover is easily scarred but still thinks he will find the God Pan. He, like all satyrs have a reed pipe, which if you play music in it the pipe will cause different spells depending on the tune.
There is also Annabeth, who is the daughter of Athena. She has curly blonde hair, and her eyes are gray. She is very wise, most likely because Athena is the Goddess of wisdom. In the future she wants to be an architect and design something that will last thousands of years. She was at Camp Half-Blood very early in her life, and spent most of it there. She has a magic cap that allows the wearer to become invisible. Oh yeah, and like Pery and the other half-bloods she is dyslexic and has ADHD.
There are tons more characters I'd love to tell you about, but then again "TeacherLady" said only to blog about two, but I did three. Most characters in this book are directly described, but some are described through actions.

The Sea of Monsters/The Titans Curse

For my English assignment I am choosing to blog about the books, The Sea of Monsters, and also The Titans Curse by Rick Riordan. These are books two and three in The Olympians series. I have chose to blog about these books because I just finished reading The Lightning Thief, and I want to continue this great series. Originally I just started reading The Sea of Monsters yesterday, but I just finished it today. To me The Sea of Monsters was one of those addicting books that you cant stop reading until you finish, because you're just dying to know how the book ends. I know, I know call me a freak for reading a 280 page book in two days, but hey that's still 20 pages short of the requirement so I might as well blog about them both. Oh, and I'll be sure to read slowly so I finish The Titans Curse in the full three week time span.
Edit: Nevermind, I finished The Titans Curse in one day, on to book four!
